Under Generated Values in the form builder, you create a formula ("generator") that automatically adds up the point values judges select and turns them into a calculated score. You can build a single overall total, section subtotals, or several custom scores in the same form, and control how much each question counts toward each one.
This applies to admins editing an Evaluation form. Generated Values only pull point values from question types that assign numeric points to a response (for example, rating scales using radio buttons) — they can't calculate from free-text or file-upload questions.
Before you start
Add the rating-style questions you want to score to your evaluation form first. A generator can only include questions that already exist on the form.
This should be a multiple choice or single choice answer question type. Where your point values have already been configured for each option. Learn more about how to do this here.
Decide whether you want one overall Total or several generators (for example, a subtotal per section plus an overall total).
Steps
From the Event Admin dashboard, open your evaluation form and go to Generated Values in the left-hand form menu.
To create a new generator, click ADD. To change an existing one (for example, the default Total), hover over its summary card and click the pencil (edit) icon.
Under Generated Value Name, name the generator (e.g. "Total" or "Essay Subscore"). Set this at creation — see "If that didn't work" below if you need to rename one later.
Set Precision to the number of decimal places you want the calculated score to show (1, 0.1, 0.01, or 0.001).
Under Sum of Values, each row is a question included in this generator. For each question, set the Multiplier to control how much it counts toward the total — a multiplier of 2.0 doubles that question's contribution relative to the others.
Click ADD A VALUE to include another question in this generator, or click the X next to a row to remove that question from it.
Check Total Possible and each row's % of Total at the bottom to confirm the weighting matches what you intended, then click Save.
Note: Ranges shown for each question assume every question is answered. An unanswered, non-required question contributes 0, so the actual lowest possible score can be lower than the displayed minimum unless every question in the generator is required.
If that didn't work
I can't rename an existing generator (e.g. "Total")
The Generated Value Name field is only set when the generator is created and displays as plain text (not editable) afterward. To use a different name, create a new generator with ADD and the name you want. Note that one generator — typically the one named "Total" — is required by the form and can't be deleted.
My calculated score is missing points from a question I expect it to include
A generator can only read a question if it's a standalone question directly on the form. Two things commonly cause a question to drop out silently:
The question was added to the generator, then later deleted from the form.
The question lives inside a repeating section — calculations can't reach into repeating sections, so those responses never contribute to the score.
Reviewr shows a warning on the Generated Values edit page when this is happening, and removes the missing question from the calculation automatically the next time you save. Clicking Cancel instead leaves the calculation as it was.
Some questions count for more than others
Check the Multiplier column for each question in Sum of Values — a higher multiplier increases that question's weighted contribution to the generator's total, independent of its own point range. The % of Total column shows each question's resulting share of the maximum possible score.
Note: Both point values and multipliers can be negative — useful if you want a question to subtract from the total (for example, a penalty for a disqualifying answer) rather than add to it.
