Adding Point Values to Evaluation Questions

Most evaluation forms contain questions that are worth a certain amount of points. This helps calculate a score on the completed evaluation form and helps admin rank submissions and determine winners.

You can only add point values to question types where evaluators are choosing from a list of options. These can include: drop downs, checkboxes, and radio buttons. Point values can not be added to any other question types such as free-form text boxes, file uploads, or any other questions where a value is typed.

For example:

As you are adding your evaluation questions, each choice you add as an option within this question can be configured to be worth a specific number of points. You can populate that value in the "Point Value" field of each choice option. These can be set initially or edited at any time.

Normally, the highest possible score that is calculated on an evaluation score is 100. As a result, each of your questions would need to have values set to accommodate this highest possible score. For example, if your evaluation form has 10 questions, formatted like the one shown above, then the "Excellent" choice option would be worth 10 points, the "Great" choice option would be worth 8 points, the "Good" choice option would be worth 6 points, etc.

You are not necessarily limited to that kind of scoring, but this does make it easier to understand the scoring for your reviewers.

Now that you have added values to your questions, you need to complete an additional step which involves creating a score calculation based on whatever questions you want to contribute to the total score of an evaluation form.

You can then choose to display the total score on the evaluation form for your reviewers to see or keep it hidden.

If you would like certain questions to be worth more than others, (what we call weighted), you can adjust the weight of each question within the generated values configuration as well.
