Wondering why your new patient texts aren’t sending
This article answers questions like:
“How do I mark an appointment as a new patient one?”
“How can I make sure my new patient campaign sends out?”
“Why didn’t a new patient get their message?”
You’ll want to follow these steps any time you add a new appointment type for new patients.
Set an Appointment Type as a New Patient Appointment
To make sure your campaigns work for new patient visits, you need to tag the correct appointment types as “New Patient” in your settings.
1. Go to the Integrations Page
2. Edit Appointment Type Settings
3. Enable the "New Patient" Toggle
Click the “Recent” toggle at the top of the screen
This reveals all appointment types, including newly created ones
Find your new patient appointment types
In the New Patient column, click the toggle so it shows a blue checkmark
✅ Blue = Enabled as a new patient appointment
❌ Gray = Not marked as new patient
🔁 Keep Campaigns Running Smoothly
Once the toggle is on, those appointments will now be recognized as new patient visits in Aloha.
Any campaigns or automated messages set up for “new patient appointment types” will now include these appointments.
If you create a new appointment type, don’t forget to come back and toggle this on if it’s for new patients.
🎉 You’ll Know It’s Working When:
The appointment type shows a blue check under the "New Patient" column
New patients with those appointment types receive your welcome messages
