We're here to help.
1) What are "Pauses"?
"Pauses" allow you to temporarily disable or snooze all app blocking for a day without losing your streak and without deleting or editing your existing blocking.
If you’d like to pause your blocking for multiple days—such as while traveling or on vacation—click here.
2) How do I earn "Pauses"?
To earn "Pauses", maintain a streak by consistently staying under your app limits. As you build this streak, you'll unlock "Pauses", allowing you to bypass app blocking without losing your progress.
3) How do I use a "Pause"?
If you are on a free trial or premium subscription
Go to "Roots > Blocking > Pause" (on top of the page)
This will unblock all apps
If you change your mind, you can end your "Pause" at any time by clicking on the "Pause" button again.
Note: Pausing won’t unblock apps that are part of an active “Challenge.” To unblock them, you’ll need to manually end the "Challenge". Just a heads-up: manually ending a “Challenge” will cause you to lose it.
4) I have run out of "Pauses" - Can I get more?
If you don’t currently have any "Pauses" available, please contact us by tapping the chat bubble below.
Please make sure to mention the email linked to your Roots account, and we’ll be happy to add some for you!
To find your Roots-associated email ID, go to: "Roots > Profile > Account Settings (top of the screen) > Tap on Your Name > Account Details > Email".
NOTE: “Pauses" are meant to be used sparingly. Refilling them too often can reduce their effectiveness in supporting your screen time goals.
If you’re heading on vacation and would like to turn off blocking for a few days, please check out this article: Can I turn off app blocking for a few days while traveling or on vacation?
4) How do I disable "Pauses"?
Go to: "Roots > Blocking > Blocking Settings (top of the screen) > Disable Blocking Pauses" (under the header "Make Roots Bulletproof").
Note: There will be a 24-hour delay if you re-enable, as an impulse protection.
