What are "Daily goals"?

How and why should I set "Daily goals"?

They’re simple, science-backed goals that guide how you want to use your phone each day.

You’ll set:

• How much total screen time you want per day
• How many times you want to check your phone

Studies show you’re almost twice as likely to stick to your goals when you set clear goals and write them down. We recommend starting with "Daily goals" that feel doable, and challenging yourself only when you’re ready.

When and how do I set them?

Your "Daily goals" are set in two ways:

  1. When you first start using Roots (Automatic): During the initial setup, we automatically set default "Screen Time" and "Pickups" goals based on the "Current Average Phone Usage" you selected.

  2. Anytime later (Intentional): You can update them anytime by going to:
"Roots > Today (bottom tab) > Account settings (top left) > Scroll down to Screen time > "Daily screen time goal" and "Daily phone pickups goal."

Your "Balance Score" on the homepage is based on the "Daily goals" you’ve set and how closely you're following them.
