"Before each unblock" is a gentle nudge designed to help you pause, reflect, and make more mindful choices when unblocking apps.
"Before each unblock" lets you add a small step before you can unblock apps. Instead of instantly regaining access, you’re prompted to take a moment or perform a simple action — giving your brain a beat to consider if you really want to go through with it.
How it works
When setting up a "Block", you’ll see a section called "Before each unblock".
Tap on it to choose what you must do before unblocking:
Time delay (Default) – Wait a few seconds before the unblock happens
Breathing exercise – Guided exercises with three breaths
Listen to nature – One minute of recorded nature sounds
Meditation – A two-minute guided meditation
Pet a dog – A light-hearted reminder to pause and connect with a furry friend before diving back in 🐶
More options are coming soon!
Where to find it
Go to: "Roots > Tap the "+" button (bottom right) > Select any blocking type (or tap the pencil icon on an existing block on the "Blocking" tab) > Scroll down to "Before each unblock".
Why it helps
Science shows even a tiny delay before acting on an impulse can help you override automatic behaviors. Whether it's waiting a few seconds or petting a dog, these mini speed bumps can stop a mindless scroll in its tracks.
