Will my apps still be blocked if I delete Roots App?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

We're here to help.

First off, we know this can be frustrating. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

If you're thinking about taking a break from Roots or uninstalling the app entirely — we get it. And we want to make sure it’s a smooth process for you.

Will my apps stay blocked after I delete the app?

Nope! If you delete the Roots app from your device, all of your app blocks and restrictions will automatically be lifted. You don’t need to worry about apps staying blocked after the uninstall.

Want to fully delete your account and data?

Before deleting the app, you can also permanently delete your Roots account and user data: Go to "Roots > Profile > Account Settings > Your Name > Scroll down to Delete My Roots Account"

Still seeing apps blocked after deleting?

In the rare case that something remains blocked even after deleting the app, here's how to fix it:

  1. Go to "iOS Settings > Screen Time"

  2. Scroll down to "Apps with Screen Time Access"

  3. Find Roots and toggle it "OFF"

This will disconnect any lingering access Roots may have had and ensure your device is fully unblocked.

It may also be helpful to check whether the apps are being blocked by other screen time apps or by "iOS Screen Time" limits.
