Why am I not seeing "App Groups" when creating a block?

First off, we know this can be frustrating. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

If you're trying to create a block in the Roots app and don’t see the option to choose between "Manual" and "App Groups" when selecting apps, you're not alone! This usually happens when the "Simple App Picker" is turned on.


Here’s how to fix it:

  1. Open the Roots app

  2. Go to Blocking

  3. Tap the Blocking Settings icon (top right of the screen)

  4. Scroll to the Roots Performance section

  5. Turn OFF the toggle for Simple App Picker

Once that’s done, try creating a block again — you should now see the option to choose between "Manual" and "App Groups".
