How do I set up a 24-hour block?

If you want to block apps all day, every day—great choice! Setting up a 24-hour block in Roots is simple and helps you stay focused without interruptions.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open Roots

  2. Tap the "+" button (bottom right)

  3. Select "Add new block" (or edit an existing block)

  4. Choose "Blocked hours"

  5. Set the time range from:
    Start: 12:00 AM
    End: 11:59 PM

  6. Select "Every day" of the week

  7. Pick the apps you want to block

  8. Save your schedule.

Want to make it even harder to unblock?

  • Monk Mode Strictness – adds strong friction to unblocking

  • Lock editing – prevents changes before the blocking is about to kick in

  • Explore the “Make Roots Bulletproof” options for extra difficulty (in "Roots > Today (bottom tab) > Account settings (top left) > Make Roots Bulletproof (under Blocking)"

Once this is set up, your apps will stay blocked continuously, reapplying every day automatically.
