How do I modify an active block in "Monk Mode"?

Updated over a week ago

We're here to help.

First off, we know this can be frustrating. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

When you're in "Monk Mode," editing your blocks becomes more challenging by design—that's the whole point of "Monk Mode"! But we understand there are times when you need to make adjustments.

Here's how to modify your active "Monk Mode" block:

Use a "Pause"

  • Go to "Roots > Blocking > Pause" (top of the screen)

  • This will temporarily pause all your blocking so you can make edits

  • Make your changes to the block (adjust time limits, add/remove apps, etc.)

  • Tap "Resume Blocking" when you're done

If you have "Lock Editing" enabled

If your block also has "Lock Editing" turned on, you'll need to wait for the 12-hour unlock timer to expire, or use a "Pause" as explained above to make immediate changes.

Quick tip for future setup:

Consider using "Normal Mode" for blocks you might need to adjust regularly, and save "Monk Mode" for the blocks where you really want that extra commitment level.

Remember, "Monk Mode" and "Lock Editing" are designed to prevent impulsive changes—so while these workarounds exist for genuine needs, the friction is intentional to help you stick to your goals!
