Why was I charged immediately? I thought there was a free trial?

Free trial availability

Roots offers a 7-day free trial only with the annual plan.

  • Annual plan: Includes a 7-day free trial before you're charged

  • Monthly plan: Does not include a free trial - you're charged immediately upon subscription


If you were charged unexpectedly

If you selected the monthly plan thinking it included a free trial, we completely understand the confusion and want to make this right.

Here's what you can do:

  1. Cancel your monthly subscription through your iPhone settings:

    • Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions

    • Select Roots

    • Tap Cancel Subscription

  2. Request a refund from Apple:

    • Sign in with your Apple ID

    • Find the Roots charge and select Report a Problem

    • Choose "I didn't mean to purchase this" or "Other"

    • Apple typically processes refunds within 48 hours

  3. Subscribe to the annual plan to get your 7-day free trial:

    • Open Roots

    • Go to Profile > Manage Subscription

    • Select the Annual Plan to start your free trial
