We're here to help.
First off, we know this can be frustrating. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
If you're seeing error messages on your blocks (as shown in the image below) and you have many blocks set up, this appears to be due to an iOS limitation with how many simultaneous blocks can be active.
What's causing this?
When you have more than 10 active blocks running at the same time, iOS may struggle to process all of them correctly, which can result in error messages appearing on your blocks.
This isn't a Roots limitation - it's related to how Apple's Screen Time API handles multiple simultaneous blocking configurations.
How to fix it:
The solution is to reduce the number of active blocks you have running at the same time:
Go to "Roots > Blocking"
Review your blocks
Delete or consolidate blocks to keep your total at 10 or below
Consider combining similar blocks where possible
For example, instead of having separate blocks for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat, you could create one "Social Media" block that includes all of these apps together.
Tips for managing multiple blocks:
Consolidate by category:
Combine all social media apps into one block
Group productivity apps together
Create one entertainment block for games and streaming
Use "Downtime" blocks strategically:
One morning block (6am-9am)
One work/school block (9am-5pm)
One evening block (6pm-10pm)
Prioritize your most important blocks:
Keep the blocks that are most critical to your goals
Remove blocks that are less essential
