Can’t turn off "Screen Time"

Updated over a week ago

If your "Screen Time" switch feels stuck and won’t turn off — especially when trying to remove Roots’ access — you’re not alone. Follow the steps below to get things unstuck and reconnect properly.

How to fix it:

Step 1: Try an alternative path

  • Go to Settings > Screen Time > Apps with Screen Time Access

  • Look for Roots in the list - you should see two Roots toggles (as shown in the image below)

  • Try turning off both of them individually

Step 2: Follow the reset process

Once you’ve turned off both Roots access toggles, return to the Roots app and open it.

Follow the on-screen prompts to grant Screen Time permission again.

After that, you’ll need to re-select the apps you want to block.
