Due to a recent Apple bug, you need to re-sync your Screen Time settings and re-select apps to block when you update to the latest version of Roots (2.14.4).
Steps to fix blocking issues
Step 1: Open "Screen Time" settings
Go to "Settings" > and tap on "Screen Time" on your iPhone or iPad. (as shown in the image below).
Note: If you can't access "Screen Time" settings due to "Shortcuts" set up, click here.
Step 2: Scroll down to "Apps With Screen Time Access"
Look for Roots and turn it off.
NOTE:
If you see Roots listed twice, it is important that you turn off both Roots entries (as shown in the image below).
If you can't turn off screen time, click here.
Step 3: Return to the Roots app
Open the Roots app
The app will detect that "Screen Time" access has been removed
Follow the prompts to grant "Screen Time" permission again
You'll be taken back to "Settings" to turn "Screen Time" back on
Step 4: Re-select apps to block
Go to the "Blocking" tab at the bottom
Tap the blocks which say "Re-select apps to block" (as shown in the image above)
Tap "What to Block"
Select the apps you want to block
Tap "Save"
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, deleting and reinstalling the app can help
Here's how to do it:
Delete the app:
Long-press the Roots app icon on your home screen
Tap "Remove App"
Select "Delete App"
Confirm by tapping "Delete"
Reinstall the app:
Open the App Store
Search for "Roots - Screen Time & Focus"
Tap the download icon to reinstall
Open Roots and log back in with your account
Note: You will have to re-create your "Blocks" again.
