How to make your "iOS Shortcuts" setup more bulletproof

Updated this week

We're here to help.

If you're finding that your "iOS Shortcuts" setup can be bypassed by restarting your phone and quickly disabling Roots in "Settings", here are a few things you can do to close that gap.

1) Reduce the number of "Shortcuts" you have enabled

If you have multiple automations running, they can slow each other down. Try trimming any unused ones so your Roots-related shortcut fires as quickly as possible.

2) Remove animations to speed up your "Shortcut"

Slower animations can give you a window to bypass the shortcut during a restart. To tighten that gap:

  • Go to Settings > Accessibility

  • Tap Per-App Settings

  • Tap Add App

  • Select Home Screen & App Library, then tap on it

  • Under Motion > Reduce Motion > On

This makes the shortcut kick in faster after a restart, closing that bypass window.
