We're here to help.
If you uninstalled Roots and then reinstalled it - only to find that your old blocking rules are still in place - you're not alone. This can happen because Roots' "Screen Time" permissions on your device may still be carrying over settings from before the uninstall. You might notice this as shortcuts or restrictions that seem to have "saved" on your phone even though the app was deleted.

The good news? There's a straightforward fix.
How to clear old blocking rules
If your previous blocks are still active after reinstalling Roots, follow these steps:
Go to iOS Settings > Screen Time
Scroll down to Apps with Screen Time Access
Find Roots and toggle it OFF
Re-open the Roots app
Grant "Screen Time" permissions when prompted
This disconnects and resets Roots' access, clearing out any lingering rules from before the reinstall.
A heads-up before you do this
Resetting "Screen Time" permissions may result in the loss of historical screen time data within the Roots app. Your account, subscription, and settings will remain intact - but the usage history tracked before the reset may no longer be accessible.
