Why am I seeing "Other screen time app detected that could cause stability issues"?

We're here to help.

This message appears when Roots detects another app on your device that also has "Screen Time" access enabled. Apple's "Screen Time" API only supports limited simultaneous access, so having more than one app connected at the same time can cause conflicts.

What this can cause

  • Blocking not working as expected

  • Screen time data syncing incorrectly

  • Roots having trouble maintaining a stable connection to "Screen Time"

How to fix this

  • Go to "iOS Settings > Screen Time"

  • Scroll down to "Apps With Screen Time Access"

  • Turn off access for any app besides Roots

A quick note

If you were previously using another screen time or app-blocking app, we'd also recommend removing any blocking you set up there, since leftover blocks from other apps can interfere with how Roots functions.
