If Roots is running slowly, or if the app is freezing or crashing, it may be due to how "App Icons" are being loaded within the various types of "Blocks" you've set up on your "Blocking" page. This can happen on certain devices due to iOS limitations.

1) Turn off "Display App Icons"

  • Go to "Roots > Blocking > Settings" (top of the screen)

  • Then, under "Roots Performance," locate "Display App Icons" and toggle it "OFF".

2) Force quit apps running in background:

  • Swipe up and hold, and then close as many apps as possible. (Click here if you don't know how to do that)

  • This will make the "App Picker/Selector" work better and help with load times

  • After quitting other apps, please try the "App Picker/Selector" again

3) Turn "ON" "Simple App Picker"

  • Enable this if you're regularly experiencing "App Picker" crashes

  • Go to "Roots > Blocking > Settings" (top of the screen)

  • Then, under "Roots Performance," locate "Simple App Picker" and toggle it "ON".
