Claim-Based Assistants

  1. Draft at least one claim.

Our AI models take your claims as input for their generations, so the more claims you've drafted, the more options you'll have for comprehensive AI text generation.

  2. Select your desired AI model. Your selection will be used for all GenAI assistant tasks run in the main application window until you change it.

Note that available models vary by account. The cloud-based OpenAI model is only available upon request.

Rowan's secure local LLM (Microsoft phi-3-mini) is available to all users with access to the GenAI Assistants. If the model fails to initialize, make sure the address to download the model (https://rowan-public-data.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/language-models) has been whitelisted by your IT department, then restart the software.

Contact your Account Manager with questions or to explore accessing your company's own AI model(s) in Rowan.

  3. To generate a title for your application based on Claim 1, click the AI icon to the left of the Title section

Note that the AI generation icon is grayed-out and unavailable until you have drafted at least one claim.

  4. To generate field of invention or technical field matter from Claim 1, click the Generate Field of Invention button available in any new paragraph in the Field of Invention or Technical Field section

Note that the Technical Field section is available by default in select Rowan templates, but either section can be added manually to your application if desired.

    OR

Click the More Options dropdown to select additional or alternative claims and Generate your field of invention from your updated selection.

  5. To generate background matter from Claim 1, click the Generate Background button available in the Background section, or click the More Options dropdown to select more or other claims, as described above.

  6. To generate a brief summary from Claim 1, click the Generate Summary button available in the Brief Summary section, or click the More Options dropdown to select more or other claims, as described above.

  7. To generate an abstract from Claim 1, click the Generate Abstract button available in the Abstract section, or click the More Options dropdown to select more or other claims, as described above.

The generated text should meet USPTO standards for word count, but an alert will appear at the bottom of the section if adjustments are needed.

  8. Review and edit the AI-generated text inserted in the respective sections as needed.
