How the RV Help Payments 5% platform fee works

What providers pay, when the 5% applies, and when it doesn't.

The short version

The 5% fee is a referral fee on jobs we send you. It applies only when both of these are true:

  • the customer found and contacted you through RV Help, and

  • you've turned on RV Help Payments.

There are no monthly fees — we only get paid when we send you work (jobs you accept and complete, not just leads). Warranty jobs are never charged a platform fee.

"Is RV Help charging 5% on ALL my jobs?"

No. If you've turned on RV Help Payments and a customer finds you some other way — your own website or Facebook page, word of mouth, you're parked next to them at an RV park — there is no fee, even when you use RV Help's tools for scheduling, invoicing, or accepting payment. The fee only applies to jobs RV Help sends you.

So the fee depends on how the customer found me?

Yes. That's the heart of it: it's a referral fee. A customer RV Help refers to you → 5% applies (with RV Help Payments on). A customer you bring in yourself → no fee, even if you run the job through RV Help Payments.

What about a past RV Help customer who comes back to me directly?

If they come back to you directly rather than through RV Help, that's not a job we sent you, so no referral fee applies.

Do I pay the 5% if I decline the job?

No. The fee is only taken when a customer actually pays you through RV Help Payments. If you don't accept the job, there's no invoice and no fee.

How is the 5% collected — do I send it to you?

You don't remit it manually. When the customer pays through RV Help Payments, the 5% is deducted automatically from that payment and the remainder is deposited to your connected account. You never calculate or send the fee yourself.

Warranty jobs

Warranty work carries no platform fee. (Standard payment processing still applies when payment is collected — see below.)

The Stripe processing fee (separate from the 5%)

When you collect payment online, Stripe charges its standard processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. This is a payment-processing cost paid to Stripe, not an RV Help fee, and it applies independently of the 5% referral fee.

Taxes and 1099s

Turning RV Help Payments on or off

The 5% referral fee only applies once you've turned on RV Help Payments. Turning it on also unlocks the CRM, scheduling and invoicing tools, parts tracking, and the free website builder.
