A basic DBS check is a criminal record check that you can request for yourself, which you then submit to us.

We accept 3 methods of you providing a DBS:

Paper certificate

You can request a DBS using the government website here. This service will allow you to order and pay for a physical DBS that will be sent to your address. You can then upload a copy of it to the Ryde app.

This service will also provide you with an online share code that you can provide us, for more info, please see below.

Online result

As mentioned above, when you order a DBS using the government website, you will be provided with an online share code around 24 hours after you have made your purchase.

You will also need to provide the last 6 digits of the DBS certificate number along with the one-time share code. These will both be in the email you receive from them.

Please note: the one-time share code is case-sensitive, so please ensure you enter it correctly

Alternatively, you can view this information using your DBS online account. Simply log in, select ‘Manage DBS checks’, request a one-time passcode and enter the required security information. Your DBS applications will then be shown, and you can view the necessary certificate.

DBS updated service

The DBS updated service reduces the need to apply for multiple certificates when you move from one job to another in the same workforce or when a recheck is required.

Organisations can carry out a quick online status check to see if your certificate is still up to date.

You can apply to use this service here.

When filling out the application form you must grant consent.

Please follow these steps to grant consent:

  1. Select the Grant consent to a third party who does not have a DBS online account link.

  2. Select the Grant consent button to generate a new consent code.

  3. Enter the recipient and product details and select the Add button.

  4. Enter the access valid until date and select the Generate button.

  5. Read and confirm the message box if you agree to the conditions.

  6. A consent code will be granted. Please make a note of the code in order to share it with Ryde. The consent code will also be displayed on the View consent history screen.

Uploading a DBS

Once you have your DBS or if you already have one, you can upload it in our app. For more information on document uploads, take a look here.
