How do I enter my itinerary?

How to enter your destinations, lodgings, activities, and airport layovers so your physician can make accurate recommendations for every stop.

In the Destinations section of your intake, you’ll enter the details of your travel itinerary. Providing a complete and accurate itinerary allows SafeGard physicians to make the most precise vaccine and medication recommendations for your trip. See the example video below for additional guidance.

How to enter your stops

For each stop on your journey, you’ll be asked to provide:

  • Purpose of visit (e.g., tourism, business, visiting family)

  • Lodgings — the type of area or accommodation (urban, rural, cruise ship, etc.)

  • Number of days at location

  • Activities — the general type of activity you’ll be doing

You can reorder your stops by clicking the six-dot icon on the left and dragging them up or down. Be sure to list your destinations in the correct order of travel.

Understanding “Lodgings”

Lodgings refers to the type of environment where you’ll be staying, which affects your exposure risk and the vaccines or medications you may need.

Options include:

  • Urban

  • Rural

  • Urban & Rural

  • Cruise ship

  • Airport stop (for layovers)

  • Home

Airport layovers

There is a special lodging category for airport layovers.
This is important because a layover — even if you don’t leave the airport — can affect your entry and vaccination requirements for subsequent destinations.

✈️ Tip: If the form is asking for hours instead of days, you’ve likely selected “Airport stop.” This field is only for layovers, not overnight hotel stays.

Common mistakes

  • Using “days” instead of “hours” for airport layovers

  • Leaving out short connections that may affect vaccine or entry requirements

  • Listing stops out of order — be sure to arrange them chronologically

  • Choosing the wrong lodging type (e.g., selecting “Home” for an overseas stay)

Being precise helps ensure your SafeGard physician can provide accurate recommendations for every stop on your trip.
