Nomad Insurance Complete: Which countries are covered?

Where does Nomad Insurance Complete provide coverage?

Nomad Insurance Complete provides health coverage in your selected country of residence and while traveling to other eligible countries.

Travel benefits work differently from health coverage. Unless a benefit states otherwise, Nomad Insurance Complete travel benefits apply when the event happens outside your primary residence, or outside the area of your primary residence, depending on the benefit.

Your primary residence is your principal home within your country of residence, where you spend the most time in a policy year and receive mail.

Countries not eligible as a country of residence

You cannot purchase Nomad Insurance Complete if your country of residence is one of the following:

  • Canada

  • Crimea (annexed region of Ukraine)

  • Cuba

  • Democratic Republic of Congo

  • Iran

  • Iraq

  • North Korea

  • North Sudan

  • Palestine (West Bank & Gaza)

  • Republic of Ireland

  • Saudi Arabia

  • Somalia

  • South Sudan

  • Syria

  • Tanzania

  • United Arab Emirates (UAE)

  • United States

  • U.S. territories (Guam, American Samoa, Palau, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands)

Coverage in Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States

Residents of Hong Kong or Singapore may still be eligible for Nomad Insurance Complete, but must purchase the Hong Kong / Singapore / U.S. add-on.

With this add-on:

  • Full benefits apply for up to 6 months in the United States

  • Full benefits apply for up to 12 months in Hong Kong and Singapore

A U.S. add-on is also available for eligible members who want extended benefits during visits to the United States.

How your country of residence is defined

For Nomad Insurance Complete, your country of residence is the country where you spend the most time during the 12-month plan year.

Key points:

  • There is no strict 6-month requirement

  • Your country of residence should reflect where you primarily live

  • If you split your time across multiple countries, your country of residence should be the country where you spend even one more day than anywhere else

Your country of residence and your primary residence are not the same thing:

  • Country of residence: The country where you spend the most time during your 12-month plan year.

  • Primary residence: Your actual home within your country of residence.

Health coverage while traveling

For health coverage, you are generally covered:

  • In your selected country of residence

  • In other eligible countries you travel to

Coverage does not apply in countries or regions subject to international sanctions.

You can use the coverage checker to confirm eligibility for a specific country before traveling.

Travel benefits and your primary residence

Travel benefits have a different geographic rule from health coverage.

Unless a specific travel benefit states otherwise, a Nomad Insurance Complete travel benefit can apply when the event happens:

  • Outside your primary residence, or

  • Outside the area of your primary residence, depending on the benefit.

This means that being outside your country of residence does not, by itself, determine whether a travel benefit applies. The specific benefit's wording determines whether the relevant geographic requirement is outside your primary residence or outside the area of your primary residence.

Always check the specific travel benefit for its applicable geographic conditions.

U.S. citizens living abroad

U.S. citizens planning to live outside the United States may be eligible for Nomad Insurance Complete, as long as the United States is not selected as their country of residence.

An optional U.S. add-on is available to provide extended benefits during visits to the United States, according to the plan's coverage guidelines.
