What is Nomad Citizen?

Nomad Citizen is a global membership, the result of our mission to create the first country on the internet. It includes a global social safety net that covers you worldwide, as well as a global community and the Nomad Border Pass.

Specifically, it includes​​ premium health insurance, full income protection (in case you lose your job or you’re unable to work), life insurance, and travel insurance worldwide.

Where can Nomad Citizen be used?

It can be used anywhere in the world!

Who is eligible for Nomad Citizen?

You are eligible for Nomad Citizen if you are:

  • Younger than 50 years of age

  • Currently working and earning at least US$4,000/month

  • You plan on being outside of your home country or passport country for at least 6 months this year (if you decide to settle down in the future, don’t worry! This product can stay with you for life)

  • We will ask 2-3 medical screening questions to check that you are not currently undergoing any significant medical treatment

Members with any citizenship or country of residence are eligible.

What is the Nomad Border Pass?

The Nomad Border Pass provides full-service application assistance to 10+ nomad visas around the world, including (but not limited to) Thailand, Costa Rica, Colombia, Croatia, and Malta. Many more options are soon to come.

What does the health insurance cover?

It will cover hospitalizations, surgeries, major medical treatment and more routine care as well, such as visits to the doctor, dental, vision, maternity, routine health screenings, emergency medical transport, and lots more.

What does the income protection look like?

The income protection coverage will pay out cash to help support you in case of unexpected loss of income (you lose your job or a major contract), medical leave, parental leave, plus long-term supports and care for those who in eligible age brackets.

What travel benefits can I expect from Nomad Citizen?

The travel coverage is mainly focused on major unexpected situations, including lost checked luggage, trip interruption, evacuation from local unrest, and more.

Does Nomad Citizen include life insurance?

Yes, it will include a benefit for burial or return of remains, a cash payout in case of accidental death, plus term life for your beneficiary.

What kind of community can I expect with Nomad Citizen?

You’ll receive an invite to our launch party later this year and a yearly gathering, plus the ability to connect with other Nomad Citizens based on location. You’ll also gain access to events in various cities, such as our Plumia dinner parties and our yearly Morocco summit.

How much will it cost?

Our pricing structure will be (in USD):

  • $133 / month for children

  • $400 / month if you start the plan between the ages of 18-39

  • $600 / month if you start the plan between the ages of 40-49

If I make less than the minimum income, can I still apply?

The main applicant will need to meet the income requirement of at least US$4,000 per month, although spouses and children do not have to meet this requirement.

What is Plumia?

The Nomad Citizen membership by Plumia is sold by SafetyWing on behalf of Plumia, a non-profit organization. The insurance product is offered exclusively to Nomad Citizen members of Plumia and the SafetyWing Special Purpose Trust located in Puerto Rico. In other words, you must be a member of Plumia to get access to the Nomad Citizen membership.

How long does Nomad Citizen last?

There is a minimum 1-year commitment, though since Nomad Citizen follows you anywhere in the world, it can continue to cover you if you decide to settle down. The plan can replace your local safety net, so you can be covered for life if you choose to be.
