Nomad Insurance Essential: Does it meet my visa requirements?

How long does Nomad Insurance Essential last and cover me? Nomad Insurance can be purchased for a minimum of 5 days, and a maximum of 364 days

Do I have to pay anything out of pocket before SafetyWing starts helping me?

This plan does not have any deductibles.

Does Nomad Insurance Essential provide emergency medical coverage?

Yes! If you get unexpectedly sick or injured, you are eligible for medically necessary charges made by a hospital or a physician

Charges include:

→ Nurse and doctor services (physician services)

→ hospitalization in a semi-private room (or equivalent cost, not to exceed the average semi-private room rate)

→ ICU’s, surgeries and surgery room

→ anesthesia, oxygen and other gasses administered under the supervision of a physician

→ recovery room and supplies (example: dressing, sutures, cast)

→ labs and diagnostic testing

This benefit’s limit is up to the overall plan’s limit of $250,000

Does the Nomad Insurance Essential plan provide a benefit for emergency medical evacuation to a better equipped hospital? Yes. ****If you are being treated at a facility that is unable to meet your medical needs, you are eligible for transportation to the nearest equipped hospital.

Important conditions:

→ Your illness or injury is eligible under this insurance (for example: not if you were skiing off-piste)

→ Any transportation arrangement is approved in advance and coordinated by us

→ The benefit only covers transportation from one medical facility to the other. Coverage applies only up to when the member is admitted to the new medical facility.

→ Transportation is deemed medically necessary by the attending physician who certifies that your life or a limb is at risk if you are not transported to a different hospital

→ You or your emergency contact agree to the transport

→ The emergency was unexpected, not a result of any prior condition

This benefit’s limit is up to $100,000 during your lifetime (lifetime max), or $25,000 in relation to a pre-existing illness or injury

Does the Nomad Insurance Essential plan provide coverage for COVID-19?

Medical treatment of COVID-19 is covered on the same terms as any other eligible illness. Testing for COVID-19 will only be included if deemed medically necessary by a physician. The antibody test is not covered by our plan. COVID-19 is covered up to the overall plan’s limit of $250,000

Does Nomad Insurance Essential provide a benefit for pandemics?

→ If a health warning is in effect at the time you book your travel, Nomad Insurance Essential will not cover any illness or injury that results from the warning.

→ If a health warning goes into effect while you are abroad and you don't leave within 10 days from that date, we will not provide coverage

Does Nomad Insurance Essential provide a benefit in case of disability?

No, unfortunately, the plan does not offer disability coverage

Does Nomad Insurance Essential provide a provision for local burial or repatriation of remains?

→In the case of your death, your beneficiary can claim for either a local burial/ cremation, or transportation of your body or remains to your home country

→If transportation is chosen, the expenses for transportation and reasonable preparation are eligible to get your remains to the airport or seaport station closest to your home country address

→If local burial is chosen, the cost of burial or cremation in the country you died is eligible

Important conditions:

→ The illness or injury that caused your death was eligible by this insurance.

→ Travel arrangements are approved in advance and/or coordinated by us.

This benefit’s limit is up to $20,000 for transportation or up to $10,000 for local burial.
