This article applies to the older Nomad Insurance Essential plan version effective September 2025. If you are not sure which plan version you are under, please check with our Customer Care team.
If a travel warning is issued for the specific area in the country where you are currently staying, your Nomad Insurance Essential plan includes coverage to help you return safely. You will be transported back to either:
Your home country, or
A nearby safe country
This will be arranged using the most economical means possible.
Conditions for Coverage
You are eligible if:
Your plan start date was before the travel warning was issued.
There was no travel warning when you first arrived in the area.
You contact us within 10 days of the travel warning being issued.
Travel arrangements are coordinated with SafetyWing, who decides the evacuation destination.
What Counts as a Travel Warning?
A travel warning is considered active when either of these happens:
The US Department of State issues a Level 3 or Level 4 travel advisory.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises against travel to that destination.
Benefit Limit
SafetyWing will reimburse evacuation expenses up to $10,000 (lifetime maximum).
