Mental Health Treatment

Information on cover for your mental health.

Updated over a week ago

The three health plans available to purchase online have different limits on out-patient specialist consultations for mental health treatment:

  • Saga Health plan Super will cover up to £2500

  • Saga Health plan Secure will cover up to £2000

  • Saga Health plan Saver Plus will cover up to £1500

All three health plans have up to 28 days in-patient or day-patient cover for treatment of a mental health condition.

In addition to the above all three health plans provide counselling through Mental Health Direct Access, which is not subject to the maximum limit allowed for mental health treatment.

Counselling sessions through Mental Health Direct Access:

Sessions with a counsellor when this is directed by, and arranged through, the Mental Health Direct Access service. This could be face-to-face or telephone counselling. The type and amount of counselling will be arranged as clinically appropriate by the Mental Health Direct Access service. Only counselling arranged through Mental Health Direct Access is covered by your policy. Over 18s only.

If you have chosen to include a 4 week wait on any of the three health plans, the following applies:

There is no cover for urgent or emergency treatment or for in-patient or day-patient treatment that is available on the NHS, within 4 weeks, after the date on which the treatment should be undertaken. Therefore, it is unlikely that there will be cover under this policy for such mental health treatment.
