Tracking churn and service terminations

Learn how to include service terminations to your proposal based on active contracts

Updated over a week ago

The churn and service terminations feature is part of the Premium subscription. Contact us if you would like to use this feature.

This feature enables you include service terminations in new proposals. This is crucial in MSP sales, as it clearly shows both your team and your customer what services will be replaced when your proposal will be approved.

Let's take the scenario where you sell 5K of MRR in services to replace an existing contract of 2K MRR of services. In this scenario your net new MRR closed is 3K instead of 5K. If you are not actively tracking this, your sales report will not accurately reflect this.

Tracking service terminations as a consequence of new sales is significant because it enhances transparency in MSP sales and contract management, allowing both the provider and the customer to have a clear view of service changes and their financial implications, simplifying the decision-making and reporting process.

Using this feature, your proposal now effectively displays proposed services with their Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) alongside the services set for termination and their MRR. Sales reps can easily show active contracts and select services to be replaced, streamlining contract renewals and improving reporting accuracy.

Scroll to the contract that contains service items that your proposal will replace and add the services that will be terminated to your proposal. You can choose to add individual services or you can add all services from a contract to the proposal.

Your proposal will now contain a new page that displays the selected service terminations.

You can choose to show or hide this section for your customer using this switch in the proposal settings:

The financial summary now contains a section with the total amount of service terminations:

The Autotask quote will now contain the new services that are listed in your proposal, as well as the service termination so your reporting will correctly reflect both your won and churned services and MRR.
