Using a custom domain for your Saucey Direct store

How to connect your custom domain / subdomain to your Saucey Direct store.

Updated over 7 months ago

Connect your domain or subdomain to Saucey Direct and give your store a fully branded web presence. Instead of using a Saucey Direct URL (e.g., direct.saucey.com/shop/mystore), you can use your own custom domain (e.g., shopmystore.com), creating a seamless and professional shopping experience for your customers

The first step to connect your custom domain will be unlocking our Growth Plan. Then, follow the proces below.

  1. Acquiring your domain (if you don't have one already)

  2. Create a custom CNAME record / A record

  3. Enter your custom domain in Saucey Direct Dashboard

Acquiring your domain name

If you don’t already have a domain, you’ll need to register one before connecting it to Saucey Direct. We recommend using Cloudflare as it provides domain registration, DNS management, and security features all in one platform.

  1. Go to Cloudflare Registrar – Visit Cloudflare Registrar and search for your desired domain name.

  2. Purchase Your Domain – Select an available domain and complete the registration process.

  3. Access Your DNS Settings – Once registered, navigate to the DNS section in your Cloudflare dashboard.

After acquiring your domain, you can proceed with setting up a custom CNAME record and linking it to Saucey Direct.

Create a custom CNAME record / A record

You can connect your domain using either a CNAME record or an A record, depending on whether you’re using a subdomain or the root domain and whether your DNS provider supports CNAME flattening. First go to your Domain's DNS settings page on your DNS provider's dashboard.

1. Using a Subdomain (e.g. shop.mydomain.com or www.mydomain.com)

Use a CNAME record.

  • Type: CNAME

  • Name: Your subdomain (e.g. shop for shop.mydomain.com)

  • Target: my.sauceydirect.com

  • TTL: Auto or lowest available

2. Using the Root Domain (e.g. mydomain.com)

Option A — If Your DNS Provider Supports CNAME Flattening

(CNAME flattening is also called ALIAS or ANAME.)
Examples: Cloudflare, Amazon Route 53, NS1, DNS Made Easy, Namecheap, DNS Simple, EasyDNS, and others.

  • Type: CNAME (sometimes listed as ANAME or ALIAS)

  • Name: @

  • Target: my.sauceydirect.com

  • TTL: Auto or lowest available

Option B — If Your DNS Provider Does Not Support CNAME Flattening

Use A records instead. Create two records:

  • Type: A

  • Name: @

  • Target 1: 166.117.13.101

  • Target 2: 166.117.155.83

  • TTL: Auto or lowest available

3. Cloudflare Users

If you’re using Cloudflare, turn on Proxy Mode (orange cloud) for enhanced security and performance. Once the record is set up, you can proceed to enter your domain in the Saucey Direct Dashboard.

4. Save Your Changes

After creating the records, allow some time for DNS propagation (typically up to 24 hours).

Enter your custom domain in Saucey Direct Dashboard

After setting up your CNAME record, complete the process by adding your domain to Saucey Direct.

  1. Go to Saucey Direct Dashboard – Log in to your Saucey Direct account.

  2. Navigate to Settings – Click on Customization under the Settings menu.

  3. Expand the Custom Domain Section – Locate and expand the Custom Domain configuration.

  4. Enter Your Domain – Input the domain or subdomain that you set up with the CNAME record.

  5. Submit and Save – Click the Submit button to finalize the setup.

  6. Wait for Verification – The domain verification and activation process can take up to 24 hours. Once verified, you will be notified by email, and your store will be accessible via your custom domain.

Your custom domain is now connected, providing your customers with a seamless and professional shopping experience!
