Do you guarantee I’ll be considered domiciled in Florida?

SavvyNomad helps you take all the key steps to establish residency in a tax-friendly state like Florida. This includes:

  • Getting a Florida address

  • Applying for a Florida driver’s license

  • Registering to vote

  • Filing a Declaration of Domicile

  • Updating key documents and submitting required forms

We guide you through building strong ties to Florida — the ones that matter most in a legal residency case.

Why we include a disclaimer?

We say:

“Savvy Nomad makes no representation as to the sufficiency of such services to establish a legally valid domicile for any purpose in any state.”

This is because:

  • We can’t control your actions — like where you actually live or how much time you spend in other states

  • We can’t take responsibility for how your old state (like New York or California) might interpret your situation

Domicile is based on your whole life picture, not just the steps you complete through us.

What else is needed?

Establishing a new domicile requires two parts:

1. Build ties to Florida

We help you with the most important ones:

  • Driver’s license

  • Voter registration

  • Declaration of domicile

  • Form filing

  • And more

2. Cut ties to your previous state

Once you’ve built your Florida ties, we’ll guide you on how to cut ties with your old state, including:

  • Ending leases

  • Updating your bank and tax records

  • Changing your employment info (if applicable)

  • Minimizing time spent there

You’re still responsible

We provide the tools and support, but you are responsible for your real-world behavior and choices.

That’s why we include this disclaimer—we can’t guarantee how tax authorities will view your situation because we don’t control where you live or how you act.

Example

If you cancel your New York lease, get a Florida driver’s license and address, move your voter registration, and spend only short visits in New York, you’re likely in a strong position to claim Florida as your domicile.

But if you keep an apartment in New York or spend months there (more than 183 days), the state could still consider you a resident, no matter what steps you’ve taken in Florida.
