Do I have to get a driver's license in my new domicile state if I use SavvyNomad?

Written by Jameson Rader

No, not all users choose to get a driver's license or state ID in their new domicile state. Getting one is a completely optional step, and how necessary it is depends on your own goals for using the SavvyNomad service as well as your personal circumstance.

In some cases, a user prefers to simply surrender their current license to their old state and de-register to vote from their old state to cleanly cut ties with their old state, all without getting a new state ID. In other cases, a user may not even do these steps.

If you do choose to get a new license or state ID, the agency depends on your domicile state:

Florida: Sumter County Tax Collector.
Texas: Texas DPS office in Aransas County.
