If I get a Florida or Texas driver's license, do I need to surrender my current driver's license from another state?

Written by Jameson Rader

Florida: Yes, Florida will require you to surrender your license from another state.

Texas: Yes, Texas will require you to surrender your license from another state. There is an upside: surrendering a valid, unexpired out-of-state license or ID waives the 30-day Texas residency requirement that would otherwise apply when obtaining your Texas license. See the Texas residency requirement for details.
