Why does SavvyNomad provide Florida users with one of their two proofs of residential address but not Texas users?

Written by Bo

The short answer is that this comes down to local rules and what each state's licensing office will accept — not a difference in the level of service we provide.

In Florida

Florida's process allows us to provide a formal "Letter to the Tax Collector" confirming that you have permission to use your SavvyNomad residential address on your state documentation. The Tax Collector's office accepts this letter as one of your two required proofs of address, so you only need to supply one document of your own.

In Texas

Texas requires that both of your proofs of address come from its own official list of acceptable documents, and a letter from us is not on that list — no matter how it is worded.

Because of that, in Texas you'll bring two items from the official Texas DPS list rather than one from us and one of your own.

Two Proofs of Residential Address: You must bring two items with you from this list. Typically, the most convenient items are a cell phone bill, pay stub, or bank statement (dated within the last 180 days). The address on this document should match your residential address as listed on your Address Tab. This item does not need to be an actual piece of mail but it should be printed.

We still support you either way

Driver's license support is included in every plan. In Texas that support looks a little different — instead of issuing a document, we help you identify which items on the Texas DPS list you are most likely to already have, make sure your residential address is set up correctly so those documents show the right address, and walk you through the rest of the process.
