You won't leave the DPS office empty-handed. Once your application is approved at your appointment, the office issues you a temporary paper driver's license before you go.
Your permanent card is mailed to you shortly afterward. The temporary license is valid in the meantime, so you can drive and use it while you wait for the physical card to arrive.
Where it gets mailed
Texas DPS mails your permanent license to your residential address in Rockport, TX — the address listed on your application. Because that is your residential address rather than your mailing address, please allow up to 10 business days after it arrives at the park for the item to be processed and uploaded to your account. You can then have it forwarded to you wherever you are.
If your permanent license hasn't shown up after a reasonable wait, contact the Texas Department of Public Safety directly to check on its status.
