ScribbleVet Browser Companion

With this extension, you will be able to sync your appointments and copy your notes from ScribbleVet to your PIMS in just one click.

Written by Melissa Duarte
  1. Download the ScribbleVet Browser Companion (available on Chrome and Edge).

Note: The Browser Companion is currently only available on desktop browsers (Chrome and Edge). It is not yet accessible on mobile devices, tablets, or iPads. Mobile browsers do not support extensions, which is why the Browser Companion cannot be used on these devices.

  2. Click the puzzle piece in the top right corner of your browser and "Pin" the ScribbleVet Browser Companion to your extension bar.

  3. Log into your ScribbleVet account on your browser – the browser companion credentials will sync automatically.4. Open the patient’s record in your PIMS (e.g., DaySmart) and the same note in the Browser Companion.

  4. Map ScribbleVet’s SOAP sections to the corresponding sections in your PIMS template. The extension will save your mappings for future use.

  5. Click “Add all” to copy all mapped sections into your PIMS.

  6. Instinct only: To transfer patient information (not just notes), generate the Record Review summary, then go to the Patients tab in the Browser Companion. Select the matching patient and click "Add all" to copy their information into Instinct.

  3. Select your PIMS

  4. Click "Notes writeback" for specific instructions on how to transfer notes. Alternatively, if you are using the Browser Companion, open the patient’s record in your PIMS, open the ScribbleVet Browser Companion, select the mapped sections, and click “Add all” to transfer them into your PIMS.

Link Providers and Sync Appointments from your PIMS to ScribbleVet

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Click "Integrations", or go directly to https://web.scribblevet.com/settings/integrations

  3. Select your PIMS

  4. Click "Syncing appointments" for specific instructions on how to sync your appointments.

Note: If the ‘Syncing Appointments’ tab does not appear, this indicates that appointment syncing is not supported for your PIMS.

Best Practice: Avoid using the API integration and Browser Companion simultaneously to prevent synchronization issues. If the API integration is available, prioritize it over the Browser Companion.

Don't see your PIMS listed?

On the Integrations page, scroll all the way down and click "Read more" under the Your PIMS not listed? section.

Note: Browser Companion now supports handling of multi-pet sections when mapping to ezyVet, Pulse, and other supported PIMS. Important: The Browser Companion currently supports ezyVet's old clinical experience interface only. It is not yet compatible with the newer clinical experience interface. Please switch to the old interface for successful integration.

For mobile workflows, use the ScribbleVet app to record notes on an iPad during exams and switch to a desktop or laptop for transferring notes using the Browser Companion.

How to Troubleshoot Issues with ScribbleVet and ezyVet Integration

If you are experiencing issues with ScribbleVet and ezyVet integration, such as errors during SOAP note imports or failed note transfers, follow the steps below to resolve them. These solutions address common problems and ensure smooth functionality.

Common Issues

  1. Error Messages: Errors like "Open the section in ezyVet, then add again" may appear when transferring notes.

  2. Failed Note Transfers: Notes from ScribbleVet may not transfer to ezyVet.

  3. Compatibility Problems: The integration may not work with ezyVet's newer clinical experience interface.

  4. Notes Disappearing After Refresh: A note transfers successfully but disappears after the page is refreshed.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide

  1. Reinstall the ScribbleVet Browser Companion Extension. Reinstalling the extension often resolves integration issues. Follow these steps:

    • Open your browser's extensions store page for the ScribbleVet Browser Companion.

    • Click Remove from Chrome (or your browser's equivalent).

    • Click Add to Chrome to reinstall the extension.

  2. Disable ezyVet's New Clinical Note Experience. If a transferred note disappears after refreshing the page, this is caused by ezyVet's "New Clinical Note Experience," which isn't yet supported. Go to ezyVet settings and disable the New Clinical Note Experience, then retry the transfer — the note should now persist after refreshing.

  3. Use ezyVet's Old Clinical Experience Interface. The integration currently works only with ezyVet's old clinical experience interface. If you are using the newer interface, switch back to the old clinical experience to enable note transfers.

  4. Retry Transferring Notes: After reinstalling the extension and ensuring the old clinical experience is enabled, try transferring your notes again. Use the "Add All" option for SOAP notes.

Additional Tips

  • Capture Screenshots: If errors persist, take a screenshot of the error message to assist with further troubleshooting.

  • Check Extension Version: Verify that you are using the latest version of the ScribbleVet Browser Companion.

Future Compatibility Notes

The ScribbleVet Browser Companion is not yet compatible with ezyVet's newer clinical experience interface. Updates to address this compatibility are expected in the future. Until then, continue using the old clinical experience for successful integration.
