Categorise medications

Set the repeat frequency and category for uncategorised medications in a patient's profile so Scrypt can calculate days on hand.

Written by Scrypt Support

Scrypt continually reads information from your dispensing software to give you a live profile. When a new medication is dispensed for a customer, it appears as Uncategorised in their profile. If required, CRM notes on the dashboard alert you to new medications that need categorising.

Categorise medications

While in the patient's profile you want to categorise medications for:

  1. Go to the Current Medication area, below the customer's information.

  2. Under the Uncategorised section, set the Rpt Freq (repeat frequency) and Category.

Rpt Freq (repeat frequency) is the number of days a single dispensing of the medication will last this customer. For example, if one box of 100 tablets is taken at 1 tablet twice a day (2 tablets per day), the dispensing lasts 50 days, so set Rpt Freq to 50.

The Rpt Freq value reads the directions and tries to calculate the correct repeat frequency. If it cannot, it defaults to the quantity entered in your dispense software, which is why some medications may initially display as 1. For example, eye drop medication is commonly dispensed at a quantity of 1.

  1. Once each row is complete, select Go.

  2. Continue categorising any other medications to complete the profile.

Note: For PRN medications, the Rpt Freq does not matter, as the supply is not scheduled or automated.

The newly categorised medications now appear in the corresponding category with the calculated days on hand (DOH) value.

If you choose not to categorise medications, there will be some limitations in what the customer sees on the Scrypt Mobile app, such as calculated DOH.
