Updated over 5 months ago

Ready to make your AI sales roleplays tailored to you? Follow these simple tips to build custom GPT prompts that bring your scenarios to life ✨

πŸ“ Note: Keep in mind that our AI roleplays are specifically designed for sales calls. Adding scenarios that are not sales-related might confuse the AI. Instead, focus on creating custom scenarios for sales roleplays that are tailored to your use case.

Check out this video with step-by-step instructions:

Basics

1. Your roleplay name/description

Add a name for your roleplay so it's easy for you to find it later.

Example:

Cold call / VP of sales / Price objections

2. Your product/service description

Add a brief description of a product/service you're selling.

Example:

AI sales coaching platform for sales teams

Step 1 - Buyer persona

1. Your buyer persona

Add 1 buyer persona title to define a role for the AI.

Example:

VP of Sales

Don't assign multiple personas; instead, create a new roleplay for each different persona. You can use the 'Duplicate' button if you want to create the same roleplay for a different persona.

2. Buyer personality

Assign personality traits to your AI buyer.

Example for cold calls:

You act very unfriendly, demonstrating a lack of warmth or openness, and display a reserved or distant attitude.
You don't want to talk to the rep and you don't give detailed answers to the rep's questions.

3. Buyer challenges

Describe the challenges your buyer persona faces that are relevant to your product/service.

Example for cold calls:

Upskilling your sales reps and you cannot provide them with individual coaching due to limited bandwidth.

4. Buyer background (optional)

Provide additional background information about your buyer persona(optional). You can include details such as their background, competitors they use and why, common questions and concerns, etc.

Example for cold calls:

You're currently using a call recording software named XYZ, but watching call recordings takes hours of your time and it's very unscalable. You're just used to XYZ, even though you think its pricing is pretty high. Your main concern for new software is user adoption since you and your team are used to the old way of doing things.

Step 2 - Roleplay type

1. Roleplay type

Choose the type of roleplay you want to build.

  • Cold call - you will have some pre-build fields for cold calls to speed up your roleplay customization. You can still edit them to tailor roleplay to your use case.

  • Discovery call - you will have some pre-build fields for discovery calls to speed up your roleplay customization. You can still edit them to tailor roleplay to your use case.

  • Custom - all custom fields will be empty for you to fill out so you can build any sales roleplay scenario you need.

2. Roleplay type description

Use this to set the stage for AI buyer and give a brief context of a situation.

Example for cold calls:

You're receiving a phone call from someone you don't know.

This sets the stage for AI buyer, guiding its responses to mimic a realistic interaction where:

  • they're receiving a phone call

  • they are unaware of the caller's identity

This might not work for other call types like Discovery calls, so you might adjust it as the following:

Example for discovery calls:

You're on a discovery meeting with a sales rep, as the decision-maker for buying solutions like theirs (AI sales coaching software) for your company.

For each section you will see "πŸ’‘ Ideas" section to get inspired to what you can add to your roleplay scenarios. Simply click on it to expand the section.

Step 3 - Objections

1. Select objection tag

Select a tag of which objections you want to hear during the roleplay (e.g., if you have "Pricing" tag or "Cold call" tag you can choose it to practice objections from that category. You can choose multiple tags.)

2. Adjust the range

Adjust how many objections you want to receive. For a more varied experience, select a range (e.g., 2-4 objections).

Step 4 - Roleplay goal and success criteria

1. Roleplay goal

What is the main goal for the rep in this roleplay?

Example for cold calls:

Book a meeting

1. Success criteria

Define what the rep needs to do during the roleplay to achieve the goal. You can add multiple success criteria by adding each on a new line.

Example for cold calls:

1 - The rep handled all objections and answered all questions
2 - The rep clearly explained how their offering can solve your challenges

Advanced settings (optional)

1. Roleplay rules

Add roleplay rules as guidance to the AI buyer on how to act during the roleplay.

Example for cold calls:

If the rep doesn't disclose that they're a sales rep at the beginning of the call, act confused, as you do not know who is calling.
Never ask for a sales pitch or value proposition yourself.
If the rep fails to explain how their offering can help solve your challenges, tell them that their offering is not relevant to your needs and you're not interested, and end the call.

You can add multiple rules as long as you stay within the limit for maximum characters.

Don't add contradictory rules to avoid confusing the AI.

2. Context

Add context as guidance to the AI buyer on how the conversation should flow during the roleplay.

Example for cold calls:

During the conversation, raise your objections one by one where it fits the conversation context, and ask two clarifying questions about rep's products one by one where it fits the conversation flow.

14. AI buyer opening line

This is the first phrase AI buyer will say when the roleplay starts.

Example for cold calls:

Hello?

Don't add names like "Hi, this is Emily" because names will be automatically assigned to each buyer depending on what character you roleplay with.

Settings

1. Roleplay duration

Choose roleplay duration.

When you start a roleplay they'll be a timer that will stop the roleplay when the timer runs out.

2. Scenario reference for sellers

This is a scenario that reps will see during the roleplay as a reference.

Example for cold calls:

You're cold-calling leads from your list "VP of Sales". Your agenda is to gather information about lead's needs and challenges, clearly elaborate the value proposition of your product and see if the lead can be a potential fit. The goal of this call is to book a meeting.

3. Choose scorecards to score this roleplay

Choose scorecards that will be used to score this roleplay.

16. Assign tags to easier find roleplays later

You can create any tags that will help you to find this roleplay later or to use the tags to. filter roleplays in the Meetings tab.
