How does Sellpy collaborate with partners for reuse and donation?

Items that aren’t sold at Sellpy, we transfer to our specialized business partners who sort and handle them according to the EU waste hierarchy.

Updated yesterday

We sort all received items and try to sell everything valued at €5 or more that meets our guidelines.

What happens to items that aren’t approved for sale?

When an item cannot be listed at Sellpy, you as a seller can request a return or request a re-evaluation of that item. Otherwise, we transfer the item to our specialized business partners, Looper Textile Co. or Textoras, that sort and handle the item according to the EU waste hierarchy. Items sent to our specialised partners are always prioritised for reuse rather than recycling, in accordance with the EU waste hierarchy. This is done in exchange for a small compensation per kilogram, which partially covers our administrative costs.

What do reuse and recycling mean?

  • Reuse means that items can be used again in their current form.

  • Recycling involves breaking down textile materials to create new products.

What happens to items that don’t get sold?

If an item is listed for sale, but not sold during its sales period at Sellpy, it is donated to our partner Ubrania Do Oddania (“UDO”). Items sent to UDO are resold, donated to their partnering charity organisations or recycled according to the EU waste hierarchy. UDO steers a share of their profit to support established charitable initiatives.

Donate your sales share

When you sell with Sellpy, you can choose to donate all or part of your sales share to one of our charity partners (for eg. Stockholms Stadsmission, SOS Children’s Villages, Save the Children, Animal Rights Sweden, or Sweden for UNHCR).

You can also set up automatic transfers to a charity organisation of your choice, if you want to continuously donate your sales share.
