The end of the year is always a busy time for 3a account openings and deposits. Therefore, we have set up this article to answer the most common questions about 3a account opening time and deposit time for the end of the year.
What is the deadline to open a pillar 3a account for the current year?
All correct pillar 3a account applications received up to and including Friday, 20 December 2024, are very likely to be processed by Friday, 27 December 2024. This ensures you can deposit money on the last banking days of the year. Account openings received after this date will be processed as quickly as possible, but we cannot guarantee they will be opened in time.
We recommend opening your 3a account as soon as you can, as payments might take up to 3 banking days to arrive depending on your bank.
Please make sure that everything is correct during the 3a account opening.
Important:
The signature on the pension agreement must match the signature on your used identification document.
The pension agreement has to be signed by hand (digital signatures are not accepted). Should something not be correct, we cannot guarantee how long it will take to open your account, even when submitting it before 20.12.2024.
What is the deadline to execute a payment so that it counts for the current year?
Incoming payments with a value date of 30.12.2024 will be booked accordingly on the value date and shown on the 2024 tax document. It is particularly important here that the outgoing bank executes the payment on the same day (note that banks often have a deadline as to when the payment must be recorded at the latest so that it is still executed on the value date of 30.12.2024).
Deposits that arrive after 31.12.2024 will count for the next year.
The payment is executed by your bank and we cannot guarantee its delivery. Please keep in mind: Depending on the bank, a transfer can take up to 3 banking days.
When will I get my pillar 3a tax document?
Pillar 3a tax statements will be available by mid-January. You only receive a 3a tax document if you have deposited money to your 3a account in the past calendar year. A transfer does not count as a deposit and you will not get a tax document if this is the only transfer you have executed this year.
