What is Document AI?

Document AI is Sembley's intelligent document extraction feature that automatically analyzes insurance documents and extracts relevant information to populate your submissions. This tool supports documents ranging from policy declaration pages and loss runs to excel spreadsheets and ACORD forms or even photos.

How to Use Document AI

Step 1: Upload Documents

  • Navigate to any submission where you want to import document data

  • Click the "Documents" tab in your submission

  • Upload documents by either:

    • Dragging and dropping files into the upload area

    • Clicking "Upload" to select files from your computer

Step 2: Document Analysis

Once uploaded, Document AI will automatically:

  • Analyze the document content

  • Categorize the document type

  • Extract relevant information

During this process, you'll see a progress indicator showing the status of the analysis.

Step 3: Importing Data

Importing General Submission Data

After analysis is complete, you'll see a list of meaningful information that Sembley was able to extract from your documents. You can review and import the data points that you want into your submission intake. If you don't want to import a particular data point, just unselect it.

Importing into Specific Tables

You can also import documents into particular tables. For instance, you may want to import an SOV spreadsheet into your Premises table. Or you may want to import a bunch of photos of driver's licenses into the Drivers table. In either case:

  • Navigate to the specific table you want to populate (e.g., Policies, Claims, Vehicles)

  • Click the "Import" button in the table

  • Select the relevant documents to import from or upload a new document

  • Review and align the headers or data point titles in the document you uploaded with the headers in the table in Sembley

  • Click import

Editing, Previewing, Downloading, Etc.

In addition to importing data, you can manage your documents from the Documents tab. Here you'll find options to edit, preview, download and delete your documents.

If you uploaded an ACORD form, you can also perform a more advanced data extraction by using our ACORD Import tool.
