Do I need to optimise for the singular and plural version of a keyword?

Wondering if you need to choose your keyword with and without an 's' on the end? It most cases, no.

Updated over a week ago

When you're selecting keywords for your website you may wonder if you need to choose both the singular and plural version of a phrase.

For example, 'plumber' and 'plumbers'.

The short answer is no, you don't. Google is smart enough to understand to understand in most cases the addition of an 's' doesn't change the meaning of the phrase.

To see this in action is simple; go to Google and search both variants. It is only if you see very different results that you know Google treats these two as different phrases.

However, in most cases you will see very similar results. In these cases, we would advise you selecting the version which has the highest search volume (if they differ).
