Yes, Sequence is built for businesses! Whether you're managing company finances solo or as part of a growing team, Sequence gives you the tools to move money, manage accounts, and stay in control.

But before you can do any of that, there's one important step: registering your business.

How to register your business in Sequence

Registering your business is quick and easy:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Click Beneficiaries

  3. Select + Add a new Business

  4. Complete the KYB form (Know Your Business)

What’s the KYB process?

KYB stands for "Know Your Business", and it’s a standard process required to verify the identity of your business. Think of it as a secure way to confirm:

  • Your business exists and is legit

  • You're authorized to act on behalf of it

  • You’re not using Sequence for anything shady (no offense)

We’ll ask for some basic documentation depending on your business structure (like articles of incorporation, business address, or proof of ownership).

The process is secure and typically takes just a few minutes to complete.

Why you need to register your business

There are three key reasons why registering your business is a must:

1. To open Sequence accounts through Thread

Sequence accounts are created via Thread Bank, and each account needs to be tied to a verified business beneficiary.

If your business isn't registered, we can’t assign the account to it — which means you can’t use that account for your business transactions.

2. To prevent rejected payments (name mismatches!)

When you send or receive funds in Sequence, the names on both ends have to match — otherwise, banks can reject the transaction.

Registering your business ensures that your Sequence account name matches your actual business name, so money can flow in and out smoothly.

3. To access business-only features like the Omni card

Only verified business beneficiaries can order the Omni card → our smart business debit card.

What makes it powerful?

The Omni card can be used to pull funds from any pod under the same business beneficiary. No need to juggle multiple cards for different accounts — it’s one card, full access, total control.

When connecting external accounts…

When you're connecting a bank account to Sequence, make sure to select the correct beneficiary — especially if you're switching between personal and business use.

Choosing the wrong one can lead to failed connections or eventual disconnections (and no one wants that).
