Passkeys & Two-Factor Authentication

Security is a big deal, and in Sequence, you’re required to have either 2FA or a passkey enabled on your account.

Passkeys are quicker and more secure, so we recommend taking a minute to set one up.

What Are Passkeys?

Passkeys are secure, easy-to-use alternatives to passwords.

  • You log in using the same method you unlock your device (Face ID, Touch ID, or a device PIN)

  • Behind the scenes they use public-key cryptography

  • They can’t be phished, making them more secure than passwords + 2FA

What Is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

2FA adds an extra layer of protection by requiring a second verification step during login.

Sequence supports:

  • Authenticator apps (Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.)

  • SMS codes

  • Device biometrics (Face ID or Touch ID)

Adding a Passkey

Passkeys can only be added during login:

  1. On the login screen, click Continue with Passkey

  2. Choose where to store the passkey (your device, password manager, etc.)

  3. Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device PIN

To view your passkeys later:

Settings → Security

Logging In With a Passkey

  1. On the login page, select Continue with Passkey

  2. Confirm your biometric or PIN
And you’re in — no password required.

Removing a Passkey

If you need to remove one:

  1. Go to Settings → Security

  2. Scroll to Passkeys

  3. Select Remove

FAQs

What are the costs or fees associated with passkeys?

None. Passkeys are included on all plans.

What if I lose the device that stores my passkey?

Use another login method:

  • Google login

  • Apple login

  • Email + verification code

Once logged in, update or remove old passkeys from Settings → Security.

How do I troubleshoot passkey issues?

Try another login method first, then update your passkeys in Settings.

Do I need a passkey to use Sequence?

You need either a passkey or 2FA enabled. Passkeys are recommended since they’re faster and more secure.

Can I set up more than one passkey?

Yes — and you should.
For example, one stored in your browser and one in your password manager. Multiple passkeys ensure you always have a backup.
