Posting a shift on Serenity Vet is designed to be quick and tailored to your clinic's unique needs. Whether you're looking to cover a last-minute gap or plan out your schedule months in advance, Serenity Vet helps you connect with qualified relief veterinarians in just a few clicks.
How do I post a one-time shift?
Posting a shift is very easy! Please follow these steps:
Navigate to the Shift Management page.
Click on a calendar day for which you would like to post a shift.
Select start and end time in the "Time and Recurrence" section of the Add Shift Sidebar. To propose flexible start and end times, turn on the "Allow to negotiate start/end time" toggle. This allows the veterinarian applying for your shift to adjust the timing and send a suggestion for your approval.
Adjust the "Type of Shift" section based on the details about your shift.
Check the corresponding type of shift.
Select if Dentistry and Surgery are "Preferred" or "Required". If you set Dentistry or Surgery as "Preferred", you can propose an extra payment for these services. This way, if a veterinarian applying for your shift opts out of providing these services, the system will adjust the vet's compensation by excluding this extra payment.
Add helpful details to the "Additional Info" section.
Enter the preferred shift cost in the "Your Cost" field. The system will automatically calculate the base vet compensation rate for the shift, which you can find in the price breakdown at the bottom of the "Payment Info" section.
Check the Profitability rate for your shift. Click HERE to review more details about our Profitability Calculator.
Click the "Publish" button once ready.
The shift is now available, and the relief veterinarian can view all details while applying. After a veterinarian submits their application for the shift, you will receive a notification and will find the application pending review on the Dashboard page.
How do I post a recurring shift?
To post a recurring shift, please follow these steps:
Navigate to the Shift Management page.
Click on a calendar day from which you would like to start posting your recurring shift.
In the "Time and Recurrence" section of the Add Shift Sidebar, select the weekdays required.
Set the recurrence pattern:
To schedule a recurring shift over multiple weeks or months, select the "Every Week Until" recurrence option. Then, select the end date for your recurring shift.
To post multiple shifts for one week in advance, set the recurrence pattern to "Once."
Select the start and end time for your recurring shift. To propose flexible start and end times, turn on the "Allow to negotiate start/end time" toggle. This allows the veterinarian applying for your shift to adjust the timing and send a suggestion for your approval.
Adjust the "Type of Shift" section based on the details about your recurring shift.
Check the corresponding type of shift.

Why do I need to post shifts three months in advance?
Posting your shifts at least three months in advance increases your chances of booking top-tier relief vets while maintaining operational predictability.
Here’s why this proactive approach matters:
Higher Fill Rates: Veterinarians using Serenity Vet often plan their calendars well in advance to align with personal and professional commitments. Early postings increase visibility and booking success.
Clinic Efficiency: Advance planning reduces last-minute scrambles, allowing your team to stay focused on patient care rather than staffing emergencies.
Vet Preference: Many relief vets intentionally plan their shifts in advance for work-life balance, making your early-posted shifts more appealing.
Think of it as staffing with strategy: the further out you post, the more options you have, and the less risk you carry.
