So, what are Nominal codes?
Nominal codes are Service Geeni's way of sending information between an accounts package and the software.
If you haven’t already set up your Nominal Codes in Service Geeni, it’s time to do so.
The steps are the same for setting up Nominals for PA or SA codes.
Getting There
You can get to Nominal Codes by:
Heading to the Stock menu and selecting Stock Records.
On the new page:
Locate the stock item you want to edit.
Then click the Edit icon via the Action Tray.
A new page will appear with multiple fields you can update.
To change the code, click the ellipsis (…) in the SA or PA Code field.
Check that your stock items are linked to the relevant Purchase Analysis (PA) and Sales Analysis (SA) codes. By default, Service Geeni assigns these codes unless you update them.
From the Action Tray, select Nominal Codes.
The PA Analysis Code/Branch Nominal Maintenance window will open.
Here’s what to do next:
Click Branch and select the appropriate one (skip this step if it’s not required).
Enter the nominal account codes in the Nominal, Department Code, and Cost Centre columns. If you don’t use department codes or cost centres, leave these fields blank.
Click Save to confirm, and you’ll be redirected back to the Select PA Code dialogue box.
Save again and close the window to return to the Stock Enquiry page.
Nominal Code for Cost Code
Next, let’s associate Nominal Codes with Cost Codes.
You can access charge codes from the System Defaults page under System Settings.
In the Customer Details section, select the ellipsis next to the Inspection Charge Code field.
Use the Action Tray to select the Nominal Maintenance icon.
From here:
Select a Branch.
Click Edit and fill out the necessary fields.
Finally, click Save to complete the process.
You have successfully set up Nominal Codes!
