What is the Maximum Daily Loss?
Updated over 4 months ago

The "Maximum Daily Loss" at SFX Funded is a crucial risk management measure. It is the maximum amount you are allowed to lose in a single day.

For Instant Funded accounts, there is no daily loss limit.

2-Step Evaluation & Rapid Challenge Daily Loss

The Maximum Daily Loss is the maximum amount you are allowed to lose in a single day, calculated using the higher value between your account's equity and balance at the start of the day. Your daily equity, which includes your floating Profit and Loss (PnL) plus all closed positions for that day, must not exceed the Maximum Daily Loss limit, set as a percentage (i.e. as 3% for the Rapid, and 4% for the 2 Step challenge) of your starting equity or balance. This rule ensures that your daily losses remain within a manageable limit, protecting both your capital and the overall stability of your trading account. The Maximum Daily Loss resets every day at 9 PM UTC.

EXAMPLE 1
You hold a funded account and at the start of day 21, your account balance is $110,000 and your equity is $112,000. The Daily Loss Limit is 4% from the starting equity for this example, this means that your overall equity on day 21 can’t go below $107,520.

This is based on 4% Daily Loss Allowance from $112,000 which equals $4,480.

$112,000 (Starting Equity of Day) - $4,480 (4% Daily Loss Limit) = $107,520

Should your equity drop below $107,520 at any moment of time on day 21 your account will be closed.

EXAMPLE 2

You hold a funded account and at the start of day 22 your account balance is $115,000 and your equity is $112,000. The Daily Loss Limit is 4% of the starting balance for this example this means that your overall equity on day 21 can’t go below $110,400.

This is based on a 4% Daily Loss Allowance from $115,000 which equals $4600.

$115,000 (Starting Balance of Day) - $4,600 (4% Daily Loss Limit) = $110,400.

Should your equity drop below $110,400 at any moment of time on day 22 your account will be closed.
