Shareholder Reference Number (SRN) and Holder Identification Number (HIN)

If you hold investments outside of Sharesies, you’ll likely have an SRN or HIN. You don’t have an SRN or HIN through Sharesies.

Shareholder Reference Number (SRN)

An SRN is how the share registries identify you as the owner of your investments.

As your shares are held on trust by Sharesies Nominee Limited, you won’t receive an individual SRN when you invest with Sharesies. You’ll only need to provide us with your personal SRN if you transfer investments in and out of Sharesies.

Holder Identification Number (HIN)

A Holder Identification Number (HIN) is a unique number issued) when you become a CHESS-sponsored client of a broker.
