From your business profile, once activated, you’ll be able to buy co-operative shares for each of the entities you manage. To buy other investments on Sharesies, you’ll need to switch to your personal profile.

When the market is open, the price you see on the overview page for your co-operative shares is a delayed price. You can see the live price by viewing market depth.

How to buy co-operative shares

  1. Select the entity that you want to buy shares for.

  2. Select ‘Buy’.

  3. Choose ‘Shares’.

  4. Enter the highest price you’re willing to pay per share and the number of whole shares to buy.

  5. Set how long you want your order to be on market for.

  6. Confirm your order details.

  7. Select ‘Buy’ to place your order.

You won’t be charged transaction fees when buying co-operative shares.

Shareholding limits

You’ll be able to see how many shares you’re permitted to buy when you place your order, as well as where your shareholding currently sits between your minimum and maximum shareholding limits.

You won’t be able to buy any shares over your maximum limit.

Cancel a buy order

During regular market open hours, your buy order is usually sent to market immediately and you might not be able to cancel it.

If you’ve placed a buy order while the market is closed, it’ll show as pending—you’ll usually be able to cancel a pending buy order during this time.

For buy orders that have only partially filled, you may be able to cancel the remaining amount.

Cancel a pending or partially filled buy order

  1. Log in to Sharesies.

  2. In your Portfolio, select the investment with the buy order you want to cancel.

  3. From the Investing activity card at the top of the page, select ‘Cancel order’ on the pending buy order.

  4. Select ‘Cancel order’ and confirm once you’re ready.

Money from cancelled buy orders will be returned to your Wallet as soon as possible.

If you successfully cancel a partially filled buy order, the money for the unfilled part of your buy order will be returned to your Wallet.

If you successfully cancel a pending order when the market is closed, the money will return to your Wallet when the market reopens.
