How to transfer crypto in

Step 1: Get your wallet address from Sharesies Crypto

Your wallet address is unique to your Sharesies Crypto account.

When transferring crypto into Sharesies Crypto, double-check every character and enter it exactly as provided before confirming—it must be accurate and current. Transfers to the wrong address can’t be reversed and can result in permanent loss of your crypto.

  1. From your Sharesies Crypto portfolio, go to Reports, Transfers and Settings > Transfer in crypto.

  2. Select the crypto you want to transfer in (e.g. Bitcoin).

  3. Select the blockchain network.

  4. Review the transfer details and accept the Sharesies Crypto Terms and Conditions.

  5. Copy your unique wallet address or scan the QR code and paste into your external platform/wallet/exchange you’re transferring from.

Step 2: Send crypto from your external platform

Double-check that the blockchain network selected on the platform or wallet you’re transferring from exactly matches the network shown in the Sharesies app.

Transfers are irreversible, and your crypto could be permanently lost if you use the wrong blockchain network.

  1. Log in to your external platform (e.g.Crypto.com, Coinbase, Binance, Bybit, Swyftx and Kraken).

  2. Confirm the blockchain network and coin exactly match what you selected in Sharesies Crypto.

  3. Paste your unique wallet address.

  4. Follow your external platform’s steps to complete the transfer.

  5. Your crypto should appear in your Sharesies Crypto portfolio within minutes of being confirmed on the blockchain.

Frequently asked questions

What is a wallet address?

A wallet address is a unique deposit address generated for you to transfer crypto into your Sharesies Crypto account. It must be accurate and current.

Can I transfer crypto out of Sharesies Crypto?

No—only inward transfers are available.

How long does a crypto transfer take?

Your crypto transfer will usually show as pending in your account within a few minutes. If the blockchain network is busy, it may take up to an hour. The transfer will remain in a pending state until we have completed compliance checks, which may take a few business days. Once complete, your crypto will be available in your Sharesies Crypto portfolio.

Why hasn't my transfer arrived?

Check the Activity tab in your Sharesies Crypto portfolio—your transfer should show as pending within minutes of being confirmed on-chain. If it's confirmed on-chain but not showing in the app, send us your transaction ID via the chat bubble, and we'll look into it. If your transfer is ‘Under review’, it’s undergoing a standard review. If your transfer hasn’t completed after three business days, get in touch via the chat bubble in the app.

Why does my transfer show ‘Minimum not met’?

There’s a minimum transfer amount of $100 USD per coin. If you transfer less than this amount, your transfer will stay pending until you've transferred enough to reach the minimum amount. You can make multiple smaller transfers—they'll accumulate until the minimum is met.

Do I need a memo or tag for XRP?

No. A Sharesies Crypto XRP wallet address is unique to you, so no memo or destination tag is needed. If the external platform you're sending from makes the tag field compulsory, enter '0' as a placeholder. Note that the XRP Ledger also requires every wallet to hold a minimum of 1 XRP at all times (called the base reserve) to keep a XRP wallet address active on the network.

Why are you asking where my crypto came from?

Sometimes we may require information on the source of crypto, funds or wealth, or we may need to confirm your ownership of crypto. If this is your first time, we want you to know that a request for documentation about your source of crypto, funds or wealth isn't unusual and is a standard process. We’re required to do this to comply with our obligations under New Zealand anti-money laundering (AML) regulations.

You may be asked to provide a combination of documents, which may include for example:

  • bank statements and/or trade history

  • email confirmations or screenshots showing the flow of assets from the original source to you

  • confirmation of ownership.

What if I send crypto to the wrong blockchain network?

Transfers are irreversible—once sent, a transfer can’t be reversed, cancelled, or amended. Always confirm the blockchain network on your external platform exactly matches the one shown in the Sharesies app before sending. Using the wrong network can result in permanent loss of your crypto.

Sharesies Crypto is offered by Sharesies Crypto Limited.
