Top up with a standard bank transfer
You can transfer New Zealand dollars (NZD), Australian dollars (AUD) or United States dollars (USD) from an NZ bank account to your Sharesies Wallet at no cost. We don’t accept transfers from providers such as Wise or Revolut.
To transfer AUD or USD currency, the money must be transferred from an NZ foreign currency bank account in the currency you want to transfer.
Go to Wallet > Top up Wallet > Bank transfer to find the details you need to top up by bank transfer:
your Sharesies customer reference number
the payee name, and
the Sharesies account number:

Top up with a debit or credit card
You can top up your Sharesies Wallet in NZD with a debit or credit card—it can take up to a few hours to process. There’s a card processing fee to use a card.
To top up using a card in Sharesies:
Select Wallet > Top up Wallet
Select Credit or Debit Card
Select your Saved card or add a credit or debit card
Enter the amount you’d like to top up
See the total top-up amount plus fees, and select Top up with card to proceed with payment
Select Top up Wallet to confirm your card top up.
Top up with Apple Pay or Google Pay
In the Sharesies app, you can top up your Wallet in NZD with Apple Pay or Google Pay—a top-up can take up to a few hours to process. A card processing fee will apply.
To top up with Apple Pay or Google Pay on the Sharesies app:
Select Wallet > Top up Wallet
Select Apple Pay/Google Pay, Credit or Debit card
Select Apple Pay/Google Pay as your payment method
Enter the amount you'd like to top up
See the total top-up amount plus fees, and select Top up with Apple Pay/Google Pay to proceed with payment
Select Top up Wallet to confirm your card top-up.
Top up with an instant bank transfer
To top up in NZD with an instant bank transfer in Sharesies:
Select Wallet > Top up Wallet
Select Instant bank transfer
Enter the amount you’d like to top up (the total top-up amount plus fees will be displayed at the bottom)
Select your bank (currently only ASB, Westpac and BNZ are available) to proceed with payment
Review your top-up details, and select Continue to my bank
Log in to your online banking using your bank login details
Confirm the transfer.
When you top up with an instant bank transfer, the money will appear in your Wallet immediately. You’ll usually see the transaction in your bank account at the same time, but it may take a few hours for the transaction to appear in your bank account for transfers made between 11 PM to 8 AM. Each time you top up using this method, you’re charged an instant bank transfer fee.
